If didn’t know about Alexa Guard, it’s a really neat feature for people who don’t own an entire security system. Today, Amazon has introduced Alexa Guard Plus – which allows Alexa to take another step when it detects intruders.
For $4.99/month (or $49/year), Alexa Guard Plus gives you access to emergency services upon request. There are two ways this works – If you ask Alexa to “call for help” it will redirect you to a trained agent who can request emergency services. I’m not sure how well this one works, since you could easily place that call yourself.
However, there’s another feature which makes more sense. If an intruder decides to invade your home, Guard can do things such as play an Alert Sound, a sound of a barking dog. Finally, Guard can even notify you if a smoke alarm goes off.
