Apple has come out against the use of third-party repairs once more. If an iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, or iPhone 11 Pro Max user replaces their screen with an aftermarket component, they will get an “Important Display Message.” The message is found in the About sections in Settings. It reads:
“Unable to verify this iPhone has a genuine Apple display.”
The message won’t have any effect on how people use the device. In a new support page, Apple issued a strong warning to users. Going to unauthorized service providers and using third-party display parts could lead to issues with the phone. They could include multi-touch issues, incorrect color calibration, ambient light sensor problems, and much more.
Even with the warning, Apple has made it known that it will start verifying third-party repair stores. This will give Apple product users more options for repairs in the future.
