After 18 years Apple is sending iTunes to the app graveyard. In 2003 Apple revolutionized how we bought and listened to music. The creation of iTunes and iPods were a massive hit. Now, with phones and music subscription apps, it seems iTunes is obsolete. In a way, it’s sad to see such an innovative app go, but there is excitement for the future.
Everyone who still uses iTunes is probably wondering what is going to happen to their music, podcasts, and shows. iTunes isn’t going away overnight. Apple will gradually phase it out. Users will still have their music, but iTunes is going to be replaced.
Apple previewed its latest desktop operating system, macOS Catalina. With it, Apple will be replacing iTunes with Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and AppleTV.
For now, iTunes will remain on Windows computers. PC users have nothing to worry about for now. There may come a time when iTunes leaves Windows, but that time is not now.
