There are many sketchy websites out there that have been selling in-game currency for years. This isn’t something new. I’ve seen it for multiple games. It was something that continuously stared at me when I played World of Warcraft before I got smart to it.
Epic Games is taking a hard stand against it. The company is removing items and skins purchased using V-Bucks that were bought from third-party websites. The V-Bucks in question are the ones purchased using the “Switch Method.” The Switch Method is the use of a credit card that instantly charges back the purchase right after it’s made, but doesn’t remove the V-Bucks. It’s basically getting the V-Bucks for free. Switch Method only works on the Nintendo Switch and is considered credit card fraud.
It doesn’t seem to matter if the V-Bucks were purchased from legitimate websites. If the Switch Method was used, the items and skins will be removed from the account. Some players are hoping that Epic will make an exception for those who only received gifts, but the company is not backing down. They are making absolutely no exceptions.
