In the past, Google has come up with clever names for operating systems. We have seen everything from Android Lollipop, Android Oreo, and even Ice Cream Sandwich. Even though the company has been doing this since 2009, it looks like we won’t get any more.
From now on, they are going to keep it simple – They announced the next version will be called Android 10.
This naming tradition has become a fun part of the release each year externally, too. But we’ve heard feedback over the years that the names weren’t always understood by everyone in the global community.
In short, Google wants to start creating names that everyone can understand. For example, not everyone knows that Android Jelly Bean released after Android Kit Kat.
While it’s not that big of a deal, long time fans might miss the cool names.
