Imagine walking out of your door at 8:45 in the morning to be met with a crashed Samsung Satellite on your front lawn. That is what happened to Michigan couple, Nancy and Dan Welke.
Nancy heard the crash as she and Dan were going to let their horses out. They called Gratiot County 911, who were equally as confused as the Welkes. “Unbelievable. Look what just fell out of the sky and 911 is baffled and it’s caught up in our tree,” Nancy said in a Facebook post.
The Samsung Satellite, known as SpaceSelfie, was designed for Samsung users to get their photos into space. In an email, Samsung stated,
Earlier today, Samsung Europe’s SpaceSelfie balloon came back down to earth. During this planned descent of the balloon to land in the U.S., weather conditions resulted in an early soft landing in a selected rural area. We regret any inconvenience this may have caused.”
The Gratiot County Herald also posted about the crash on its Facebook page. The comments were quite entertaining.

Now that the Satellite has “landed” back on the earth what happens now? Will Samsung fix it and send it back into space, or will the “SpaceSelfie” project end?
