Verizon Is Starting To Automatically Block Robocalls For You

It seems like everyday I get telemarketers and Robo-calls to my phone. What’s worse is that I can’t really do anything about it. Sure, you can block them – but that doesn’t stop you from getting calls from different numbers. For the longest time, carriers like Verizon didn’t have a clear solution to the problem.

Starting today, Verizon’s Call Filter service will begin working on Android phones. The best part is you don’t have to do anything. If you have an iOS device, things are different – You will have to download the Call Filter App.

Anyway, here’s what happens when you get a Robo Call:

  • If the number that calls you has been reported as fraudulent, the call will be blocked and go directly to voicemail.
  • If you receive a known spam or nuisance call, you will see “Potential Spam” instead of their name. This is basically a warning, which can be disabled in the my Verizon app.

You won’t have to worry about your contacts being blocked, either. Your phone can tell the difference between them and a spam call. The only question is will this make a difference, or will telemarketers find a way around it.
